Dear KWiSE members,

Thank you all for your participations in the 2nd term of KWiSE database construction. We have completed successfully a total of 304 KWiSE members’ profiles in CV level.

The 2nd term of the database construction project was carried out from April to December 2007 with the full support from the Korean Federation of Science and Technology (KOFST).  This database will continue to play a major role in networking among Korean-American women scientists and engineers, and information- and resource-sharing.  In addition to the 1st term KWiSE database, which we obtained 176 members’ profiles, during the 2nd term, we have recruited 128 new members and also updated many previous members’ data.

The member demographics summarized to be 178 members in the eastern region, 97 in the west, 19 in the mid-west, and 10 in the south.  We are currently comprised of 248 doctors and doctorate students, 29 maters and master students, and 27 undergraduate students.  143 members work in research labs, 47 at universities, 29 in companies, and others are students.

We plan to carry out the 3rd-term of the KWiSE database project from June to December this year.  We believe there are still many potential members that we have not been able to reach and hope to get all of existing members’ contributions to drive next term to success.

KWiSE deeply appreciates Ms. Mona Kim’s efforts in completing the 2nd term of this project successfully.

Best Regards,
Gye Won
