We have invited two internationally renowned infectious disease experts, Dr. Youngmee Jee from South Korea and Dr. Connie Schmaljohn from the United States and asked them to share their views on infectious disease, in particular on COVID-19 research and development.

Dr. Jee is Special Advisor to the Prime Minister in health, South Korea and Special Representative for Health Diplomacy, Korea Foundation. Currently, she is a member of the WHO International Health Regulation Emergency Committee on COVID-19, and a member of the WHO Scientific Advisory Group for the Blueprint on Research and Development Preparedness for Epidemics.

Dr. Schmaljohn is Director of the Integrated Research Facility-Frederick, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).  Previously she was the Senior Research Scientist for Medical Defenses against Infectious Disease Threats for the US Army and directed a research program at the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID). She has served as President of the International Society of Hantaviruses.

Organizing Committee for KWiSE Forum Series: COVID-19

여성과학자협회가 오는 12월 3일 오후 7시 코로나19를 주제로 온라인 포럼을 한다.
세계보건기구(WHO) 코로나19 긴급위원회 위원인 지영미 박사가 강사로 나선다. 지 박사는 서울대의대와 영국 런던대 졸업 뒤 대한민국 질병관리본부에 들어갔다.

질병관리본부 소화기 바이러스과장, 면역병리센터장 등을 거쳤고, 소아마비 박멸 사업 업적을 인정받아 2007~2014년 WHO 예방접종프로그램 지역조정관을 맡기도 했다.
포럼에는 국제 한타바이러스 학회장을 맡고 있는 코니 시말존 박사도 강사로 나선다. 네브래스카대학과 콜로라도주립대에서 미생물학과 바이러스학을 전공한 시말존 박사는 미국 미생물학회, 국제 백신학회 임원 등으로 활동했다.
